Renix TPS adjustment (1987 to 1990): what it helps and how to set it

Correct TPS voltage helps drivability and can improve how it feels on throttle.

When to use this guide: 1987 to 1990 XJ with drivability complaints after basics are handled.

Overview

The TPS on a Renix is adjustable with a multimeter, and getting the closed-throttle voltage right matters. If it's out of spec, the ECU doesn't know where idle is and fuel delivery suffers. It's a free adjustment that takes about 15 minutes. A lot of Renix owners say it's one of the single biggest improvements to how the rig drives.
