Weak heater and temp swings after service: burping air from the system

Trapped air can cause weak heat, weird gauge swings, and overheating after coolant work.

When to use this guide: You recently changed coolant parts and now temps act weird.

Overview

If you just did coolant work and the temperature gauge is now acting erratic or the heater is blowing cold, there's an air pocket in the system. Air in the cooling system is normal after service, but you have to get it out. On a Cherokee the system doesn't self-bleed well, so you need to burp it manually or the symptoms will continue.
